Morning Sunshine!!
We are so grateful to join you on this adventure into a new and inclusive salon experience. Our stylists are hard at work learning and growing more than just our hair skills. As the first salon in the area, possibly anywhere, catering to neurodiverse folks we are very aware how hard this may be for some of you. Please know this is a learning experience for us as well.
Retro Redhead is committed to providing a safer space for people who have felt like they never really fit in. Maybe you were the “weird” one, the quiet one who was scared to use their voice, or perhaps you just believe in love, kindness and a hippy/happy asshole free lifestyle. Regardless of the reason we’re glad you’re here.
We offer sensory accomodations for our friends who need (or even just want) them. Andrea Van Der Merwe (future MSW) will be providing training to all Retro Redhead staff so we can provide a safer space for trauma survivors, recently housed friends, and newly sober folks.
Even with all this, sometimes we (usually Sam) say the wrong things at the wrong time. What makes us different is we WANT your feedback, we want to know, we want to grow our knowledge. This goes beyond DEI, beyond inclusivity. It’s a choice! We choose to be better humans. If there is anything you would love to see included on our list of accomodations or even something you feel may help others feel at ease PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reach out and let us know.
Thank you so much for choosing to join us on our journey into uncharted waters.
MUCH LOVE
RETRO REDHEAD

Born with an uncanny ability to put people at ease I have spent the last three years curating a safer space where anyone can feel welcomed (unless you’re judgy and grumpy. If this is you we may not be the best fit). I have the energy of a teenager and the maturity to match. I find humour and beauty in absolutely everything.
Being diagnosed ADHD later in life means I understand all the hardships you may have experienced. I too have struggled with reading between the lines, understanding social cues, etc. This also means I am able to hyperfocus and get bored easily.
Well the world of hair is full of neurospicy folks for this reason. My first true love is and always will be hair colour. Creating the perfect shade is an art that I have been blessed with obsessing over for the better part of my career. There was a minute when boredom kicked in so I did the unthinkable for a seasoned colourist… I dove into precision hair cutting working and training with some of the best cutters in the industry. While doing my deep dive into cutting I realized that curl training was almost non existent and sought out all of the education I could afford and find. Well I guess my training paid off because I am now well known in the London Ontario Curly Girl circles. You will often see my name appear on reddit boards and curly haircut forums.
This is my superpower as a stylist. I have all the tools in my tool box. I ask questions if I don’t understand, I tell you when I don’t think things will suit you (with tact obviously), I work with YOU to create a personalized style with your lifestyle in mind. My lack of reading social cues means I just don’t get offended so we can have open communication regarding your hair goals.

In the final stages of creating a human
In the final stages of creating a human
Well the time has come and as of Feb 11, 2026 your girl is officially in the final stages of creating a mini human. As many of you know Moira will be navigating a toddler and a new born and will need sometime to adjust. She is currently anticipating the full year off.
During this absolutely amazing and sometimes difficult transition I ask that you please respect her privacy, boundaries and sanity. All well wishes can be sent via email to our fabulous client care concierge Emily to be forwarded to Moira. If y’all love snail mail as much as we do (when it isn’t a bill) Cards can be sent to the studio and I will ensure the family receives them.

I think emotional support dogs are a necessity for some. Well who knew they needed emotional support humans?
Ben can be found most summer days slathered in sunblock catching rays on the deck. When this old man has had enough of napping in the sun he will most likely try to find a spot on a soft bed, couch, blanket or lap somewhere. At more than 10 years of age his favourite past times include getting pets and emotional support from Salon clients, trying to find your baby so he can be sure they are safely nestled in their car seat while you are getting you hair done or aimlessly pacing back and forth contemplating what to do in order to receive MORE emotional support.

Meet the OG. Many of you have thought that she was new girl but I’ve had this girl for years. She has my heart. Ridiculously food motivated yet allergic to everything you will find this old lady either running scared from anyone who looks at her sideways or the exact opposite and staring into the depths of your soul enticing love and affection from you. If you see her (or hear) her saying hello just keep talking to her she loves life but if you move too quickly she will run in fear.
